I am a Third year student studying Design Crafts at De montfort University. I mainly work with most materials, ceramics, textiles, metals and glass, and i'm hoping to discover even more materials I can combine and explore throughout my time at university.

My work is very much organic, and carrys a conceptual thought behind each piece which drives my imagination. My most recent project evolves around the idea of 'touch' and 'the human tactile sense'.

I believe our tactile sense is triggered less each day. The interactions that we have with everyday life are lacking as we forced into a digitalized generation. As a tactile person, i’m aware of examining an object through sight alone has its limitations. Physical contact with the object is essential to gather the information required to fully understand the nature of it.  Im concerned that we are losing our born skill as our world becomes progressively digitalized.  I wanted to create sculptural pods, covered in different stimulating textures. Giving my pieces a free flowing organic appeal, representing the idea of escaping this perfected, manufactured world we live in, however equally important that the work is visually appealing as our senses work conjointly to make informed decisions. The idea of creating beautiful pieces inspired by the idea of textures, enhances what I am trying to get across to the viewer, which is trying to communicate that the ability to feel is beautiful. I want people to begin to question “How do I hold, feel, touch everyday items?” , “Do I take for granted my ability to distinguish what an item is simply by touching?” and “am I part of this digitalized world, that appears to be becoming more and more distant from reality?.”
